And a winner! Or at least close enough, gopher getter. Tried every other type of eradication and have come to believe they are Caddyshack gophers and up until now much smarter than me. No more goofing around now its TOTAL WAR!

            • Got the tubes bored thru, 2 3/4" to 3" X 13 5/8 long, just over 40 Lb's of chips, what a pain in the tuchus (-:

This is a smaller version of the same part nearly finished, it has not yet been electro-polished.

              • Picked up a Hardinge Model N cross slide off Ebay that showed up this week. Gave it a tear down and a soak in Evaporust, came decently clean. Might spend a bit more time but it's functional for now. Need to spend some time now adjusting the gibs and getting it dialed in.

I think we found the culprit for bad gear changes on the Lotus Elise...
"Engineered" in Colin Chapman fashion... "Any car which holds together for a whole race is too heavy." Or "Simplify, then add lightness."

I got the job. First time in 18 months, that I will have an income.
Believe me, I was worried. And deep in debt just to pay ordinary expenses
Plus medical expenses on top of that
I can feel the stress and worry leaving my body
It's not easy if you're older and unemployed

                    • Nickel-City-Fab; Fully understand! Forced medical retirement just when your body begins to betray your in 3 different ways is most inconvenient. But if you don’t force yourself to remain interested and active your intellectual capacity starts to go off the rails as well. Don’t be offended that I’ve added you to my “folks to pray for” list. I think it’s important that people unite and support each other rather than the currently fashionable ‘kill ‘em all and let god sort them out’ attitude wrecking our greatest American cities right now. Best of luck! God bless and keep you.

congrats! Being out of work sucks, even for a short time. glad to hear that you found something, the job market can't be easy right now.

As for me, after physio this morning I did some work on a friends car in exchange for a big pile of home smoked brisket. Changed his front rotors and pads, cleaned the front caliper pins, bled the brakes, rotated the tires, fixed a couple of loose trim pieces around the front wheel wells and fixed a worn through windscreen washer hose (little bit of lathe work to make the barbs). He's pleased as punch and we'll be eating like kings!

                        • I put another battery in my old 1994 Chevy 4x4. I accidentally killed the AGM battery I had in it and I couldn't get it to take a charge again.

At least I got a smoking deal on the battery I bought for it. $80 for a 760 CCA Delco.

                              • Today I cleaned the boat, flushed the motors, and sorted out my fishing gear. Yesterday was Salmon fishing on the Siuslaw River, in my native state of Oregon. It was a perfect day on the water, with 2 other men who I often fish with. It was a great day, with great friends, and good food. My home in Springfield has suffered from the nasty air, due to the forest fires you may have heard about. Coastal air is many orders of better, and we were all feeling much better. Hopefully, the Willamette valley will benefit from the cooler temps and rain that is predicted. And, no, we didn't catch anything but the bottom.
