So far, only fixed the neighbor's garage door opener.
Now it's on to re-assembling the Rivett headstock with my "new" parts, and seeing if I have all the parts needed to drive the QC box.CNC machines only go through the motions.

I finally transitioned my desktop to W10 LTSC from my 7 year old Windows 7 install, which was starting to get corrupted and have issues. A friend set up the drive on another computer along with the base programs and drivers I needed, so it was a 10 minute hot swap and I was back up and running. Didn't even have to log back into this forum.I loved 7 dearly, but all good things must come to an end.

Wife and I got Covid shots yesterday. It was no big deal. After I got home I got to thinking... I did not feel the needle go in. I did not feel the serum as the plunger was pushed. I did not feel the withdrawal of the needle. I was not sore. I began to wonder if I really got the shot, or did the doctor fake it and save the syringe for sale on the black market???
This morning I woke with an ache at the injection site. All is good!
DanAt the end of the project, there is a profound difference between spare parts and left over parts.

A "shot of air" is not good.... If it gets into a blood vessel, it can lead to bad things, varying from blocked blood flow and resulting tissue death, to an "induced" heart attack, etc. Depends if it gets into an artery or a vein. "Air embolism" is the term, I believe.

That Tim Clarke is why people work withe the "horrible tree carcass stuff". Beautiful when done well.
So, this is what I've been up to (amongst the usual) for the last few days. My lathe QCTP tooling is insecurely hooked (by the dovetail) on the splashback where they can nosedive into the chiptray on a whim. It's also overcrowded. I've been dabbling with the whole 3D printing lark for a while so I made these (and many more) to fix the problem.
The recess (you can see on the left one) is just "storage". Tiny but thought it might be useful for the odd spare insert - may as well use the space for something and it didn't feel right to try to add drills or something like that in the design.
6mm through-hole was printed at 6.25mm (yeah, my dimensional accuracy isn't all that currently) and then reamed to size because I have that luxury. I was thinking of a rod screwed through the sides of the splashback but I might just go with dowels for the moment - I have some lying about, they seem to work fine with just the weight of the other holders and it means not drilling holes.
One inverted (for boring type tools), one standard and one extra wide for my boring bar holder. Also did an extra wide for the Morse 2 taper holder. These are all for import 000 size QCTP by the way.
Fitted to the splashback.....well, dropped in place for the moment. I'll add the dowels once I've decided where each should go. Also in view is evidence of a repaired tailstock castingGot it to less than 0.01mm front to back but in the up/down plane it's at least 0.07mm out and not easily adjustable....but that's another issue
