  • Removed a broken 10-32 screw in an extremely expensive marine diesel cooling pump. Simply ran a 5/32" 4-flute carbide end mill through the center and then chased with a tap.

        • Cut the grass with the massey harris pony tractor + topper, until the pto adaptor snapped 3/4 done and called it day outside because of the heat. I'll fix it when the weather cools.
Into the shed where it was nice and cool still and a quick tidy up then onto the project bike again and fitted a hydraulic clutch master cylinder, quick action throttle and handlebar grips and drilled/blind tapped a LED tail light I made for it years ago from a piece of solid aluminium stock milled out to visually match the profiles of the grab handles + drilled for leds, then spent the rest of the evening holding up bits of cardboard and plywood and periodically sitting on it testing riding positions to try and get the shapes of the rearset footrests how I want them to look dimensionally before drawing up the final parts in cad and making them for real.

          • Filed a taper on a broken Allen wrench and wedged it into the set screw on a HF hole saw arbor to get the damaged set screw out. Then went to the hardware store and got a replacement screw and wrench.

            • Washed the Odyssey and Silverado. A couple times during the wash jobs, the sprinkler system came on and I noticed a stink in the air. The sprinklers are part of our sewage treatment plant, and normally there is no odor from them. When I finished with the vehicles, I went in to shower and told the wife that I thought we were in for some expense for getting the treatment plant pumped out. During the shower, it dawned on me that it was possible that the aerator pump may have crapped out. After getting dressed I went out and sure enough, the pump was not running. Went to the control box and the red indicator was lit. I pushed the reset button and it immediately tripped off again. $-it ! Pun intended.

              • Made it through 1/2 the work of an 80% AR lower,

Made up the lower bracket for the "front quick hitch" on the Kubota

Replaced the bath tub water spigot and drain plate. Now that is an improvement!

Round here, that's the job that cheap disposable torx bits were invented for

Dave, sounds like a crappy job to repair (pun intended too).

                  • Shot at the range here on the farm & while repainting the targets found I lied about the size. I said I was shooting & hitting 3" steel diamonds at 300 yards with a 22lr & they are only 2" diamonds & 3" squares. I had listed them as 3" & 4", sorry! Not many things better the hearing the round go off, watching till it hits & a second or 2 later hearing the "ding".
Picked up my new shooting bench from Cabelas. Been wanting this since I saw it but wouldn't pay $180 + tax. It went on sale & between 25% off gift cards, a coupon & Active Junky cost me about $90.

                      • I took pics this morning & my wife can text them if someone would like to post them. Before you were here I went thru this same BS with another know it all when I shot a 5 shot group at 85 yards that measured .321 outside to outside which is scored a .198 with a Savage that couldn't do anywhere close with his $3k Anschutz. Pics should still be on here. PM me if anyone wants to post them for me & we have some members close by.

EDIT: I checked, and no pictures. It also changed from 75 yards to 85 yards. Also, it's just more people laughing: http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net/thr...p-so-much-fun!

$600. about 100 mi., from home. The machine looks beautiful. Ball bearing ways, Mag chuck. Excello spindle. It even has illumination in the spark stop. Only missing parts are a flap on the wheel guard and one of the table stops.
