HEY! What happened to building equal length headers going into those turbo's?! SLACKER!!! Reminds me of a friend's twin turbo Dodge Viper GTS except he had equal length and 5 of them per side!

Turbos don't care a real lot, na equal length do lots! Some of those equal v12's are crazy too!

Finally found an appropriate piece of scrap at the scrapyard to alter this particular project.
This is a forklift jib/boom. Extendable out to 12’ or so. There are models of these that you can pull a pin and they tilt for more height/lift. The prior owner had welded on accessory fork pockets that were at 45° to the factory pockets to mimic the lift feature. While not as convenient in regards to the tilting models, I got it for a good price. The issue is that the accessory pockets were really sized for a much smaller machine and my forks did not fit in the pockets. Now to accessorize the accessory and add on some 36”x 3”x8” by3/8 tube. The 6’ scrap piece is 135lbs.

So far all I have done today is replace the pressure switch on my air compressor and add a single quick couple before the shut off valve so I don't have to startup the whole system just to air up a tire. Well that's not true. I also fixed a spatula for my wife this morning by drilling, tapping and setting a stainless screw in to hold it together.

Not today, but in the last few days I painted my smoker, fitted a new/used barrel to my Winchester Model 12, cleaned my buddy's Beretta, and gathered parts to install a ductless heat pump in my shop. Tomorrow, I'll start smoking a brisket, likely to take all day. That's okay, I have all day. Retirement life is good!

worked on a DoD grant due tomorrow, machined a groove in a piece of alu. oops, that's machining, should put that in the machining thread. Mostly sat on my azz doing really dull stuff.

I've got a few days 'holiday' while wife and child are at the in-laws and work is a bit slow so I'd planned to take a day off and go round all the BrewDog bars in London collecting the set of stamps. In theory there's some prize/gift for doing so....but largely it's just an excuse for a pub-crawl with good beers.
So with this all planned, fate has thrown me the worst dose of man-flu I've had in years and work has conspired to throw emergency jobs in the way just in case I was feeling better by my final day.

Nice turbo work vpt!

I've done very little in my shop of late, new job, playing catch up in the evenings with any new bits like you do, but today I finally assembled the wife's ford galaxy door skins after fixing the central locking and put the trim back on, fitted a wheel back on and put the barely legal spare wheel in the carrier underneath instead of it swimming round inside like its been for the past 3 months after a flat tyre incident.
While working a cheap aircon gauge set up arrived, so I hooked up the galaxy's non working aircon to them to diagnose, and it had no pressure in it, so I made up a adaptor for the gauge hoses to a nitrogen cylinder i had, and charged it with some compressor oil + nitrogen to get it up to pressure at 40psi and check everything kicked in, and it did. The gauges didn't drop and I'll check it in a few days to be sure but I think the diagnosis is that it just doesn't have enough freon in, so I can vacuum out what's in there and get hold of a r134 recharge kit and add it once I know its holding pressure long term.
The really annoying bit is that its been to two shops who both said it needed $1200 of parts to fix as they said it was so bad it wouldn't even pressurise and its just been left for a couple of years as too expensive.
Also put the laptop and diagnostic software on it, because its cut out a couple of times when accelerating hard at speed in hot weather, and its got a "Charge Pressure Control Negative Deviation (lower than expected boost) " dtc code, so I guess its time to spray oven cleaner on the vnt vanes in the turbo again :-)

So just fix fix fit new parts here, but some materials to make new footrest hangers for the turbo bike project turned up, so its back to the machining next weekend (I hope!)

went to Ace hardware. found a roll around toolbox and a $100 104 piece tool set combo for $150. the tool combo set just stays unopened in the truck. spending all day rearranging the tool boxes. maybe I can get a few drawers to open without fussing and fighting.

I have been spending several days sharpening the accumulation of dull end mill I had pilled up.
Today I cleaned out the drawer in tool box where I kept end mills and other things. Now the drawer is neatly organized with just end mills arranged in rows by size etc.
I wonder how long I can keep it that way?
