mcmaster has a large range of oddball taps and dies. mcmaster has everything.
Unfortualy they do not ship outside the USA *sigh* and are overpriced. If you find another source I would highly recommend using them insted.

      Do you mean 1/2-20?
      It's only ink and paper

Assuming you mean 1/2-20, Victor Machinery Exchange has them.

FYI, they also do custom taps.

The 1/2"-20 thread is UNF and is included in common tap and die sets. It should be available nearly any place that sells taps and dies, including hardware stores, although some only carry the more common UNC pitches.

Another paranoid that won't post his location. Must be in the boonies
since even the common sets have 1/2 - 20 taps and dies in them.

You have to wonder if he made a misprint --- 1/2-20 has to be in the top 5-6 most commonly used taps in a shop, and as said, able to be picked up almost anywhere....
If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something........

                You don't mean 20" x 1/2? THAT would be a big tap!

Ahh. I thought it was an oddball thread as I did'nt think anyone would ask where to buy a standard UNF/UNC tap.

I'd like to see the arms on the person who could turn the tap wrench!

I think you might find him if you followed the trail of empty spinach cans.

Perhaps he could use some super-good Olive Oyl lubricant as thread-cutting fluid:

                            Maybe it's a Left Hand

                            that could be why it's a 20 - 1/2" not a 1/2" - 20.....
