Microwave oven steriliser

I have seen just about everything stuffed into the common or garden microwave oven but this looks like a more productive use, haven't seen it before so i thought I'd post as normally I see them blown up!

Oh yea sure.
I don't know about that side of the pond, but over here they will charge more for the cheaper method since it's "newfangled" so they can just increase the profit margin.

How's $300 per sterilized utensil sound? Probably a little less than what they'll actually charge for the convenience.

They still have to wash all the instruments by whatever method that works.

For some reason it reminds me of a survey that NASA did of their Astronaut Corp. On a long space flight such as to Mars it will be necessary to recycle all water. NASA asked how much taste/smell would have to be removed from the sterile recycled product to be acceptable for drinking.

The uniform answer they received was "All of it".

When i tossed some metal into the Microwave odd things happened. (Wifes Gone) Anyhow how do they get the Microwave to work with metal objects im wondering. Even tin foil in mine isnt a good idea?

I think ( NOTE! THINK) the metal is "shielded" by the material that
does the absorbing of the RF energy which is what gets HOT.
The whole thing is rather interesting though.

You can get a very interesting light show by loosely crumpling a ball of aluminum foil and zapping it on high for a few seconds.

Are you a kid? Does your microwave oven belong to your parents? If so, then don't even THINK about trying any of these experiments. I'm serious. If I wreck my microwave oven, I can buy another. Also, I'm a professional electrical engineer. I know enough physics and RF effects to take correct safety precautions when I'm experimenting. But you don't know the precautions, so you should be smart: read and enjoy my writing, but don't duplicate my tests unless you grow up to become an electronics tech, engineer, etc., and buy your OWN microwave oven.

Soil sterilzation

I have used it to sterilize dirt from the garden.

The soil was used as a basis for starting seeds.

Had to do small batches.

Very smelly.

I did it in a detached carriage house.
