30 Taper Boring Head Arbor

Looking for a 1 1/2-18 30 taper boring head arbor, not finding much available, received a new defective one, sent it back for refund, filed PayPal dispute. Now I see one on ebay without a drive flange, and the other tooling that came with the mill has a flange. Is the flange really needed? I've only used an R8 machine up to this point.

Yes the flange is needed..the NT30 tapers and the largers ones drive via the dogs...

Those arbors are commonly available here in Australia, but not cheap..

-when I got it I found it had some other drawbar thread---called and talked to a lady named Patty "PJ" Cody--she had a guy named Charley check and make sure the replacement had the right thread----and they replaced it.

-They were very good about taking care of the problem.

For a boring head a flange is not needed. I dont even have the drive dogs installed on my 30 taper spindle and never once have I had a tool holder slip.

I ended up buying a boring head with a 30 taper on it from ebay. Looks good. Never have used it.
