    If the fixture holds the gear blank above the cutter there's no limit to diameter. Things can get a bit awkward, though. On my Atlas shaper with the blank below the cutter in the conventional mode the diameter is equal to the distance between the cutter and the table.

      Hi Michael.

      The swing on the indexer is just over 4". It is slightly larger than the original Ammco unit.

      In theory I could separate the headstock and make a riser block mounted to the table and make larger gears. But that would entail another spindle with say, a chuck mount. Which means I would never get around to actually making anything! I would rather set up the R/T as Bill has done.
