  • Is the enco 6" import super spacer a Vertex?

Enco has these on sale right now and I'm thinking about buying one. Looks like people have good things to say about the Vertex. I'm just wondering if the Enco "import" is a Vertex. It certainly looks like it in the picture but we all know how that goes. If anyone has a link to good prices on the Vertex S/S, please provide.

It sure looks like one is a clone of the other or both are a clone of a more expensive one. I would consider it if I was looking for a super spacer.

(disclaimer: i don't know enough about super spacers to really have an opinion, but I have grown to trust that Enco will regularly offer quality items for much less money than everyone else is selling them for.)

The picture looks exactly like the 6" Vertex I bought seven years ago, except the price is wrong. I paid $35. Just don't go looking for spare parts from the factory, I had no luck but was able to fix the slightly bent worm shaft and partially broken eccentric shaft the worm slides in. Work fine for me now tho I use it maybe 4-5 times a year.

Wow, $35! That was a steal. I just bought a used Vertex (made in Taiwan) from a local machine dealer for $650. It was complete with the six masking plates, 3-jaw chuck with reversable jaws, and a face plate. Even with the Enco one being on sale, I still saved over $100 when you factor in the freight truck shipping. Only thing that was wrong with it was that someone had removed the key from the handwheel; presumably to keep people from boogering up the worm gear by failing to disengage the indexing pin. Took me five minutes to fit a new key. Checked runout using a big center drill and a DTI on a mag base and I got .0015". Not spectacular, but given that I hadn't clamped down the S/S I'm not going to worry too much about it.

There might be an educators discount of 10% and free shipping. It was posted here a few days ago and I was able to take advantage of it.

This is a 6" "Vertex" RT

This is a 6" "Vertex" rotary table - a very good unit - the manual can be down-loaded from the same web page:
