  • cheap dro malfunction (revisited)

Do you remember this item http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net/showthread.php?t=39379

I think it was a bit brave telling i don't mind braking one because there are enough left on the shelf.
Well, i am down to the last one. Not couting the one that is on my mill-drill this moment going crazy with a fresh penlight attached to is.
A fresh penlight capable of running an 80 lumen flashlight with an IC in the switch cap.

I have tried all if not most of your suggestions for fixing these problems.
    Shielding the wires and motor.

Yesterday the dro on this quill died because of a short circuit frying a penlight. No obvious trace of debris in it.

Put on this dro today and it died before i could use it. At least it knows who is boss

Now there is one dro left sitting on my shelf and i do not know if i should give it a try or dump it right away because it is a lot of work to make it fit.
In that case a dialcaliper is an option.

I am missing one very simple thing in causing these units to die. Checked the voltage.
Any suggestions are welcom including stick to painting
