  • New lathe

Well, I finally did it. I bought a South Bend lathe at auction. I have been looking for one so long that I dont know what to do now. The rigger is going to call here next week and bring it to the garage. I almost didnt buy it due to the lack of space in my current garage. But that all changed when I saw some of your shops packed to the gills with equipent. Now I too have made it into the packrat club. Pictures to come soon. Cheers, rr.

    Congratulations!

You can move it yourself if you are physically able. I weigh 145 lbs. and was able to move mine all by myself once I dismantled it and used a handcart.

I didnt even think about moving it all by my lonesome. It is an SBL 400 with a 2" throat. I would guess 5,000lb? Although, after I get it to its new home, I might take a closer look at what can be removed. But, for now, the hard part. Waiting for it to arrive!
