  • O/T Kop Hill Climb

Last weekend I met up with a couple of friends and rode out to the Kop Hill Climb event. Two Morini 3 1/2's and one BMW R80RT travelled the country lanes to Princes Risborough.

Originally run from 1910-1925 it was an accident at this event that got motorsport on public roads banned in the UK. Last year, the event was re-created on a non competative basis. Getting the road closed is relatively easy, but it would take an act of Parliament to suspend the road traffic regulations and all vehicles had to be road legal and obey the speed limit (60 mph). For many, this simply wasn't an issue and just getting up the hill (which is 1 in 4 in places) was enough of a challenge.

Great pics - thanks for posting.

Does the event run every year? Might be nice to take it in when I visit my dad over there.

Did you find out if there were any vehicles there that competed in 1925 or earlier, some of them are certainly old enough. I think my favourite motorcycle pictured would be the Guzzi, I have a soft spot for Italian motorcyles.

Really nice pix. Good to see Morgans with the proper # of wheels 3. Problem, most steering wheels are on the wrong side.
                          thanks

Thanks for the pics! I've never seen that much old motoring machines and Go-Fast-Caps in one place. Looked like I even had a glimpse of a Royal Enfield but not sure. I think my Dad was enamored by the name. He road an Indian in 1946. Your pics were great, thanks for taking all the time to post them.
