    I was looking at some Rigid oiless pipe die inserts. They seem to be extreemly hard and tough. What I was wondering is if there be a way to cut them into pieces for use as single point bits. Our machine uses dies about 3/8" X 1 1/8" X 2". Seems a shame to just throw them away.

    These are die inserts off Coventry Dieheads.
    I use these all the while for screwcutting, they make a brilliant job as they have the correct root and crest radii ground in.
    Doesn't matter what size they are, all you need is the right pitch. A 1/4" x 20 will cut any 20 tpi thread.
