That sure brings back some memories for me. I used one very similar to it about 25 years ago, however I believe it was 20" X 120". Good machine, but it did have it's weak points. At certain settings, it would sometimes jump out of gear. Bummer !!!

What do you know, they predicted the styling of the honda element.

      This one's bigger, 49"x226"

Well, of course there are much larger lathes. I've operated a few also. But I was talking about the LeBlond.

Looks nice. A bit large for me. I would like to have a 14" x 40"

There were a couple big-arse lathes for sale in this area recently... I really don't need anything that big.

                Reminiscing.

That brings back a few memories, needed a lathe about that size, machinery dealer had one for lease about a $110.00 per month, told purchasing to get it.

Week or so later purchasing, [the guy by the headstock] calls me, they can not give us the lathe I selected, the current lessee wants to keep it longer, BUT they have one slightly bigger, we can have at the same price.

                OK go ahead!

The truck shows up! A Little bigger? About 36" x 144" iirc!

It did do the job but dang.

                Cheers,

                Les H.
