  • Clausing 5904 help

I have a friend with an old 5904 and it sounds like his compound slide broke...he has tried to locate a replacement but no luck. Clausing doesn't have that casting anymore and told him there were several changes through the years for it...

I have not seen the actual part since he is several states away but if anyone can help me chase down a part or give me a direction to point him in it would be much appreciated

    Thanks Ed
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it. ..

Sounds like he needs to buy a piece of cast iron and start machining a new one.

      Try Plaza Machinery?

Seems like they should be about the perfect size for a flat rate box so at least shipping should be cheap. Clausing made those lathes by the thousand, so there should be plenty out there if he wants a used one. I might agree with Dr Stan and go about making a new one if it was me though.
