I think Small Parts www.smallparts.com has some high-temp insulating materials.
McMaster-Carr www.mcmaster.com might also be a good bet.

building a heisler
In Kozo Hiraoka's book "Building the Heisler" he says to use asbestos yarn to insulate steam piping. What should i use in place of this material? As far as I know you
can no longer obtain asbestos for any reason.
I really enjoy reading everyones comments and questions. Also I was able to find Tubal Cain's book the Model Engineers Handbook on Barnes & Noble's website under "used and out of print books"
have fun and make chips in 2004!!
