  • Tool Gloat or maybe not?

    Hi,

I picked up a free Horror Freight 110v Mig welder. It seems to be pushing some amps. But I don't know how well yet. The gun needs repair because someone tried to disassemble it. They then forced it back together and it's being held together with tape.

The feed rollers and seem to be OK, but it appears to have a plastic liner for the wire feed. Not sure yet what shape that might be in. It has no fan for cooling, so duty cycle might be suspect.

On the other hand, the paint is there and it has a ground clamp. It should provide a bit of amusement.

It may work, or maybe not. It was free. Sounds like fun!

        Hi,

I think it's probably closer to the boat anchor category. It looks like the 110 amp model, it has the high/low switches and the same duty cycle. And it appears it has the gas kit, but no regulator.

If I can get it work decently, it might make a fair garage duty welder.

I put 40 lbs of flux core wire through one of those things.....don't expect a structural quality weld in anything over 1/8". It works well for what it is. It's a hell of a lot better than no welder, that's for sure
