Anyone using a PM1440HD Lathe? I am considering purchasing one and would like to talk to some owners first.

    Send a PM to "flatlander"

    He purchased a PM1404HD in Dec, 2008:

If its identical to the Jet 1440 I'd stay far away from it. Had two of the Jets in a school lab and they were absolute junk.

            Alcova,

Thanks, if you had to choose again would you make the same choice?

Looked at the jet as well, almost twice the money. Spoke to a jet rep, they tell me it is because the machine is made to their specs. Asked what those specs were and never got an answer. Don't mind paying the extra money but would like to know what I am getting for it?

Without a doubt I would pick it again, one thing I liked was it had a 10" wide bed against 7 1/2" ( better resistance against torque, My thought anyway ) would loved to have a larger bore through the headstock, but that seems impossible on the single phase machines
