  • Hyperterminal Misbehavior follow-up Report

Recall that I was having trouble with serial communications:

Well, I came to a solution with the help of The Artful Bodger. John worked with me from the other side of the world, and provided a little program that does everything I need with none of the bad behavior that Hyperterminal and other terminal programs exhibited.

The program is used to support my CNC X-Y table and controller.

Since serial ports are becoming a thing of the past, new computers having only USB ports, I tried an inexpensive converter cable. Worked a treat with John's program, and now I'm running the system from a little netbook computer.

The program, with two display versions, will be in the downloads section of Digital Machinist website as soon as George's IT guy can get recovered from the recent server failure.

That's great to hear. It's always encouraging to hear news of success, particularly after a mighty struggle. (My last one came to naught) Looking forward to seeing the program show up.

We're still working on getting the other authors' files available, but John and Weston's program is now online!
