  • Help, size of replacement motor

Helping someone to change his hydraulic pump motor from 3 phase to single phase and wanting to use 115 VAC if possible.

I don't understand this motor rating. Would a standard 1725 rpm motor of 1-1/2 hp rating with capacitor start work for a replacement?

A VFD with 115 VAC input doesn't seem to be an option for a 1-1/2 hp motor.

    On 60hz, it's a 900watt (1.2hp) 1800 rpm type that develops full hp when loaded to 1670rpm.

    A 1725rpm 1.5hp will work fine.

If you want to take the lazy approach and keep the original motor, you can buy VFD's that take 110 volt single phase input and generate 3 phase 220 volt output.

I think the max motor size for these special VFD's is 2 HP.

You can see them at www.dealerselectric.com .
