Shopping for a laser level, and a Topcon model is recommended at a price of $700. I've seen a lot of different brands used on jobs. I don't want to spend money on something that won't last, but I don't need to cream of the crop either. Anyone have recommendations?

OT Rotating Laser Levels

Topcon is top of the line stuff. I have an older Topcon theodolite that I bought used a few years ago. It is excellent, very rugged. I use it regularly.
I bought a new Dewalt rotary laser a couple of years ago, haven't used it much, but what I've done with it has worked well. I laid out and dug the drain field for my septic system using it and I have built a few porches with it. The drain field project worked out well because I was able the set the level to the correct fall for the drain lines, from that point it was just dig and measureSeems like I gave about $250.00 or so for the Dewalt from Lowes.
hope this helps
