  • 1/5 scale model machine prints

    Hello all,
I have been looking for awhile and i was wondering if anyone knew if Barry Jordan ever made any prints/plans for his 1/5 scale machines.
My students would love to make one but the time it would require to start from scratch would be a project killer / nightmare. I thought i would throw out the question here and hopefully find some or some leads to some.

    Hi Steven,
I doubt that Barry published any of his plans but you could probably get some drawings from PM Research for their machine tools. They would be much easier to build also.

      what level are the students?

if BJ did have plans, it would be a rare individual who could build one, let alone students - even the brightest of whom suffer a lack of experience and more importantly a lack of hours. Heck there wouldn't be many veterans who had both the ability and time and single minded persistence for a project like that.

from what teacher friends say, even the PM kits would tax a student program; limited hours available, every time a kid screws up its a new casting to be bought etc

They are beginners but this project would be worked on by them for 3hrs a day for 2years. I understand the difficulty and scale. As far as casting we would be making it from billet and solid casting blocks.

Were you wanting them to build miniature machine tools? Or just small machines of any kind that actually work?

I have been wanting to build something like this, just for fun.

There are many sets of engine plans available online.

          Good Luck,

then they would have something useful ..easy to copy ..wont take months to make .

can be powered by sewing machine motor .

            all the best.markj
