OT: Remote controlled power outlet

    They make 24 Volt, latching to control light circuits and I am sure you could find some that would be rated for motors too. You could then use low Voltage wiring (24 V) to several locations around the shop where you need to control the vacuum. These relays are latching type so you only need momentary switches to control them. Such switches are also available in the same form factor as standard wall switches as will as others.

    Price should be less than $50 for relay, some low Voltage wire, and two or three switches.

      So momentary contact ON toggles them between on and off?

      That could make for a nice remote that you clip on to your pants, and you just tap it for on and off.

      Though I guess it would need to be RF for reliable actuation.
