  • Springback Question

    Evening all,
In ballizing a tube to open up its diameter I am experiencing 2 thou approx spring back.
Im using a 4.5 mm ball for the initial trials.
    I need to end up at 4.5 mm +-0.004mm ( about 0.0001")
    I've ended up at 4.445mm.
Im assuming that if I oversized by 0.055mm, I.e. a 4.555mm Ill end up on the money.
Anyone got any experience of this?

How much are you expanding the tube? Maybe try boring it a bit bigger first?
Also if you're using a bigger ball, I should think you'll need to be starting with a bigger bore, so that the amount to be expanded is the same in both cases, to get a predictable result.
I say this with absolutely zero experience of your process, just trying to think as logically as I can after a rather boozy 'works' Christmas dinner
