  • My daughter's first mill/lathe project

My nine year old pointed to the rockwell and asked, "What's that?"

    I said,"Why don't I show you?"

Chucked up a piece of clear acrylic and let her cut some paths into the side and drill a hole through the center. Afterwards I pointed to the lathe and asked her if she wanted to try that one out. She machined the OD to 1/2" and then I figured, why not connect the two? So I cut some threads on the lathe, tapped the origional block, threaded them together and handed it to her.

She replies, "Cool we made a hammer!"

    Cool.
Next question will be " Daddy, what's CNC mean"
    Then it gets better.

Right in the age range where she's very inquisitive and showing is so much better than telling. Good job on being a Dad too !
