    I got a little CNC job. My sculptor friend got a commission to do a bust of a politician for a fundraiser. Part of the job required a commemorative fired clay tablet for each of the contributors. I produced a stamp to impress into the surface of the clay to speed production.



    The area is 4 X 4. Cleared out most of the metal .050" deep with a 1/16" endmill, then followed with a 15 degree v-bit. Worked my little homemade CNC pretty hard, well long, about 8 hours, spread over 2 sessions. I have to do a little manual cleanup yet.

      Wanna know how I got the mirror image? I just swapped two wires on the x-axis stepper motor to make it run backwards. Could also have done it in the Mach3 software, probably easier.

        I'm betting "swapping two wires" was easier than finding the reverse-image function in Mach.
        "The Administration does not support blowing up planets." --- Finally some SENSIBLE policy from the Gov!

          Reverse image in Mach is easy.
          In Weston's case just change the scale ratio at the side of the X DRO from 1.000 to -1.00 then hit screen regen - simples.

            Or you could have reversed the image in the original file or CAM program. Then your climb cuts remain climb cuts. I've made a similar sized stamp, but it only took me about 1 or 2 hours machining time. I was able to save a lot of time by stepping down thru the end mill sizes, just like how you would with sandpaper. 1/4 -> 1/8 -> 1/16 -> 3/64 -> V bit.
