  • Plugged Metering Distributor

On my 73 B&S surface grinder I have at least one of the metering distributors plugged up in the one shot oiler. I looks like it is two parts under the scope and looks to have some sort of filter inside on the inlet. Any thoughts on getting this thing to flow some oil? Soak it? Try and take it apart?

    Thanks
    John

Results of cleaning attempts have been mostly less then satisfactory in my experience...I would just replace it nowadays...

Thanks, now to figure out if any more are plugged up before I order new ones.

No doubt grit has got into the system. You should probably replace all. I tried everything to clean them out - no success. Check each carefuly for type and number - they are not all the same.

Flush all the lines with brake cleaner, and put an external bijur filter after the machine filter (before the distribution). I did this on a B&S grinder a few years ago.

Monarch Lathe has some of the best prices on the flow restrictors. Give the service dept a call.

I can see where the bijur pump had been replaced at some time in the past. Thanks for the tip on flushing out the lines. All of mine are the same except for the two that feed oil to the Y ways under the tower.
