If any of you receive an e-mail from someone saying that you sent an e-mail infected with a virus to someone, don't panic. Many mail servers are still set to reply to the apparent sender of an e-mail when a virus is detected. This is bad policy since the "From" part of an virus e-mail is nearly always faked, but there are stupid IT administrators who still have thier server software set that way. BC Government is one and SunLife is another. If you do receive such an e-mail all it means is that someone else who has your e-mail address on their machine is infected.

Also, the new Bagle virus is able to escape detection by anti-virus software as it sends itself as an encrypted zip file. Do not open any attachments unless you know what they are.

Norton picked up on a ".zip" file coming in as an attachment to my computer on Saturday. These people must have more time than I have to "play" in this manner.

Yeah, it's a bit disconcerting to be accused of sending a virus when you didn't have anything to do with it! We've had a flurry of that recently, two or three instances in the past day or two.
