For Dave the gunsmith, If you can get your hands on a classic gunsmithing book like "The Modern Gunsmith" by James V. Howe (1934 - 1942). there are entire chapters on tool making for the gun smith. This book ( there are two volumes in the set) is a treasure of classic knowhow in both gunsmithing and tool making.
