    Good for them.
Unfortunately here in Canada all you see from TV and hear from radio is how fantastically multicultural and tolerant we are.
Centres for "contemporary art" to help "aspiring artists" are opening up while there is not a single program that helps manufacturing and innovative startups....
I am annoyed because our company outsourced so much to china that our own shop is slow to tbe point that i spent 1.5 hours sweeping floor today....
    Sigh.

At least your not lazy... you did sweep the floor. There must be some work ethic left in Canada and your proof of it.

          The second and third paragraph.

The German Fraunhofer Institute has initiated a large-scale program to make sure German manufacturing companies remain as global leaders in producing a new generation of radical and innovative products aimed for use in sustainable cities.

The applied manufacturing research organization has developed a strategy for developing the products and systems necessary to create cities that produce nearly zero CO2 emissions. Driving the program is the knowledge that two-thirds of all humans will soon be living in megacities with more than 4 million inhabitants. Almost all of those cities will be located outside of Germany.
It is no more then a statement of intent at this stage and may be a dream for the future.

Germany has a very good manufacturing industry and a very higly multi-skilled work force that has a great history of industry, science and innovation - and still has - even in Europe such as it is.

Even at this stage they are years ahead of the advanced nations - other than China, Japan Korea, Taiwan etc. all of which are great self-starters - with a hisstory to prove it.

Well. At least intent assumes some direction. Unlike other developed nations that seem to be tryin to employ its every citizen in service sector.
