  • IT finally happened: A small tool gloat (lots of small tools)

Part One (continued in another post): A few days ago, a gentleman I'd become aquainted with but hadn't seen for several years stopped by the house and asked my wife (I was away at work) if I might be interested in a box of old tools. The tools had belonged to his father who was a die-maker and who has been dead over 50 years. This fellow is himself 80+ years of age. You all know the answer to that question! Upon returning from work I went to his home, and was shown a very old, very beat-up toolbox which was so badly dinged most of the drawers wouldn't open. In the top was the usual assortment of old drill bits, taps etc. I accepted the box, and after returning to the shop proceeded to 'tear it apart' to get inside.

This is how the box looked when I finished:

In various locations within, I found these:

    And these:

    Not to mention all this:

Great gift, and the way it should be. Have no use anymore for tools?, "Pass them ON" to someone who will use them.

Any idea what brand of machinist box that is?

No idea. It was so beat up there were no legible markings.

That is a great question. I've posted it here http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net/thr...ese-things-for now so perhaps someone can tell us.

Yeah, that was my first guess but they don't measure up correctly according to the markings. They are all a little wide.
