  • OT- For the sky watchers, an online orrery...

This site displays a live orrery where the planets are at this exact moment. Click on the HELP button which will explain how to set it in motion. etc. It also has links to
other online orrerys and solar system simulations if you're interested. All in all, a very informative site...

Note: If you look at the orrery today, you'll notice that Mercury, Jupiter, and Venus are starting to form a line. If you want to see this, go out about 1/2 hour after sunset and look towards the west and you'll see these three planets. I believe June 5th is the date for them to form a line.

If you want to see where stuff is when you go outside try Stellarium. It is an open source Planetarium software package that has a huge amount of optional stars to download, I think 10mil plus. It can also control various telescopes with go-to controls like my Meade LX200.

Add: Make that 210 million stars in the database.
