  • Dayton motor start caps info...

    I have a dayton 3/4 hp model 5K478-H

this motor works - just checked it out today but it needs a "push start"

pulled the capacitor cover and the cap was shot to hell, a lead that totally corroded off and the cap seen so much of the elements (motor ran outside or something) that all the painted #'s are unreadable due to 70% missing,

does anyone know how to find out what cap to order from the motors more durable stamped aluminum plate that has all the motor info on it?

    moocho appreciated...

Call Grainger, they'll know. Dayton is their brand.

The "DR" is correct, they used to send out in the snail mail the exploded drawings on any motor you needed info on and cap values, hook up schematics, etc. I would imagine todays help would come via the internet. Dayton always had a good support team. Good luck.

This may or may not be relevant, but Grainger no longer supplies capacitor start switches for many of their motors.

If you need one, google Torq corp. and they can probably fix you up.
