I really like inline 8 cylinder engines.
I think Oldsmobile were overhead valve,
whereas the others were flat head.

1953 Buick still had the straight eight.

My 1937 Buick Roadmaster phaeton has an origional 320 Buick overhead valve straight 8 and still purs like a kitten. After we get the body work, interior and top done all are welcome to take a ride with the top down if you pass through central Washington State

Do You provide the rain gear or do we have to bring our own?
By the time I come back through Wa. I will have forgotten your kind offer

My father had a 1953 Packard Clipper that was a flat head straight eight.

Can't remember which year, but Buick 8's also had an optional twin carb set up.

Why don't we still have straight-8 engines? Crankshaft flex, or whip. Straight-8's were notorious for breaking crankshafts. Of course, they were incredibly heavy engines, too....A 322 cubic inch Buick inline-8 weighed more than a 392 Chrysler "Hemi".....but, the "Hemi", of that time period, produced 200 more horsepower.
                          No good deed goes unpunished.

Did Hudson have a straight 8 as well?
