Info on slotting machines...

Just looking for background info on slotting machines before i buy one.

Can they cut up to a face or does the tool have to have a run-out gap?

Need to cut a blind hole basically.

Is there any reference material i could be searching for regarding slotters?

Cutting up to a face should be similar to a shaper..... if no relief, the chip has no way to be removed.
