  • "older" chuck brand help

Hello again! Having just purchased a 1980's South Bend 10k lathe, I'll likely sell my 1936 SB 9c lathe (once the replacement is up and running). Both came with 5" three jaw chucks, and 6" four jaw chucks. I will keep one of each, and include at least one chuck when I sell the 9c. All the chucks are in operable condition, without obvious damage or modifications (and the 3 jaw chucks both have extra jaws). So...

Which would you keep? The 5" 3jaw from South Bend (assumably 1980s manufacture), or the Union Mfg Co model (assumably as old as the 1936 SB lathe)? The 6" 4jaw Skinner Junior, or the Kalamazoo Mfg model?

Thanks again for all the help on this forum.

Newer chucks might be easier to get parts for, like a pinion
or whatever. I think the successors to Kalamazoo are still
in business. I bought a new pinion gear for my Buck chuck
from MSC catalog a few years ago.
