  • Want To Find Set Screws Small Quantites

Does anyone know where I can find small quantities of small set screws... needed are about 10-15 each of
    6-40 x 3/16"
    6-40 x 1/4"
    8-36 x 3/16"
    8-36 x 1/4"

I have checked a number of places, but they want to sell in 100 count lots

    Thanks Walt

Where are you? Do you have any salvage merchant around nearby?
I haven't been on that side of town in several years, but there used to be such a place here that had literally tons of misc stuff like that.

Otherwise check a local hardware store and compare the "per piece" price against the 100ea boxes.

eBay was the only place I found them, zorotools (where I often get bolts) didn't have them in those sizes.

My local Auto Parts supplier has an industrial division that has a good stock of bolts, metric & imperial, set screw etc. They sell them in any quantity you want.
But you probably pay a premium price for small quantities. Sometimes your better off to buy them by the box.

www.boltdepot.com has your #6 setscrews sold by the piece. I'd call them and ask about the 8-36 setscrews.

Monster Fasteners has your #8 set screws, you must buy 24 of each. http://monsterfastener.com/sizelist....pe=Set%20Screw

Most places will just look at you like a deer in the headlights if you ask for a 6-40 or 8-36. Go to Mc Master Carr. You might be surprised at the cost, even in larger quantities. Bob.

                Might try this: http://www.amazonsupply.com/s?page=1...0581&=&x=0&y=0

This used to be Small Parts, Inc. of Miami, high quality supplier at similar prices. Now apparently bought by Amazon. The prices are still up there but they have the goods and in my dealings with them, always had top-quality stuff. (skip the mil-spec stainless unless you like paying military prices. They probably sell the proverbial $300 hammer.)

+2 for Bolt Depot. I have placed several orders with them and have received prompt and accurate service. The pieces come in individually labeled zip lock bags.

Small Parts is still Small Parts. They are part of the "Amazon Marketplace". Some items are fulfilled by Amazon as part of their (Amazon's) "logistical services". Some items come from Small Parts from Miami. Good service from them as well.
