  • cheap air compressor

Bought a cheap air compressor several years ago, and besides needing about two years to 'break in' so it wouldn't pop the breaker all the time, it's been good. Came home one night and went to use some air- no pressure there. I thought maybe I'd shut it off as I was going to be away for a few days, but it was still on. Breaker was not popped.

Then I notice an odd red thing laying on the floor. Turns out it was the top half of the regulator. Looking at it closely I see that the break line is about six molecules thick on one side, and about 11 molecules thick on the other side. That's got to be about the thinnest wall section I've ever seen on anything. To be part of a pressure regulator- well, let's just say it could have let go anytime- maybe at a moment when my face was directly above it.

Looks like I have another shop project-
I seldom do anything within the scope of logical reason and calculated cost/benefit, etc- I'm following my passion-

People never say, "I should have payed less and bought something
    cheaper."
But all the time people say, "I should have payed more and bought something
    better".
