  • Aluminum vs brass plug question

    Howdy folks,

I need to make some plugs for a set of plastic oil tanks for some old Vespas. Dumb question, but is there any reason not use aluminum for the plugs instead of brass (what I normally use on metal tanks)? These tanks are molded plastic and hold 2 stroke oil. I can't think of a reason not to use aluminum, but figured I'd ask some folks that are a bit smarter.

    Many thanks,

    Derek

I cannot see why aluminum won't work. No corrosion problems when storing oil in the tank.
But why not use nylon plugs? They make some pretty tough fitting from plastic these days.

Larry, this is why I ask you guys questions. I often miss the obvious I'll start looking for nylon or plastic plugs. Many thanks, Derek
