  • Enco collet difference?

I'm starting to buy tooling for my new-to-me, and am looking at these two collet sets. They appear to be identical 13 piece sets, both are marked Interstate brand in the catalog, but the one that includes a collet holder is $4 cheaper? The only difference I can see otherwise is the more expensive one says it's hardened and ground, but I would assume the other set is as well. Obviously I'll save the four bucks and get the one that has a holder if the collets are the same, but would get the other set if they're better quality. Anybody know if the collets in these two sets are in fact the same?

Interstate is probably just a Chinese attempt at branding, quality is similar, iffy. Some low cost Chinese collets are OK lots are crap. If you can't afford the quality ones then that's your only other choice. You pays your money and ..........

Neither appears to include a rack. The 3180 set is pictured in a rack
but the Big Book pg 525 shows a rack as a separate p/n. The 5022
set does not have an asterisk in the book, denoting it does not include
the wooden rack that comes w some other sets.

      Edit to 5022 from 5055

I doubt if there's any difference in the collets. Actually I've had pretty good luck with Chinese collets over the years. They will probably be fine.

Sorry. Reread the copy for the 3180 set on pg 525.

          Tray is very clearly included.

I have yet to receive a Far Eastern cheapie collet that is sprung open. They seem to skip that manufacturing step. I hate having soft stock get scratched up dragging it in and out of an unsprung collet.

Excellent, thank you! I had the 15% off code, but this saved me a couple more bucks.

I went with the set with the rack, and also got some way and tapping oil, end mills, and a Noga magnetic indicator holder. I should be ready to make some chips finally when it all comes in.
