Stepper motor wiring...

When wiring a stepper motor, is there any performance hit when wiring bi-polar series or bi-polar parallel?

Series takes 2.1A and parallel takes 4.2A on my motors but will one way perform better over the other way??

The problem with stepper motors is the back EMF limiting the maximum speed. For this reason, I tend to go with high current / low voltage wiring if the design will allow it. This will keep the rail voltage requirement down.
