  • Dremel tool?

I purchased a new one Sunday and was noticing the new (to me anyway)flex shaft attachments, question is are they any good?
I just need one more tool, just one!

One way to find out is mount a tool bit and see if it moves side-to-side. (Bearing check) If it has a plastic body like the new one I got, it's crap. After exteded use, it heats up and the bearing comes out of the end.

    Forgot to mention:
I just threw mine in my project cabnet and went back to my 25yr. old Sear's model. One of these days, I'll make a new handle for it--Metal handle that is.

Darin I have udsed flexible shafts in Dentistry all my life. We moved on to micromotors without the shaft as there was less vibration and less moving parts.
The drive shaft for a dremmel will not be in the same leauge as we used and they will overheat after a while as they are basically a wire rod greased inside an outer sleeve. That said they are better than holding a dremmel for a prolonged perion i.e much lighter to use and able to get into tighter spots good luck with it Alistair
Please excuse my typing as I have a form of parkinsons disease

Thanks,I already knew about the Dremel tool itself, they are light duty, but for what they are intended to do they are adequate.Heck I tried to find a 3/4" two flute endmill with an 1/8" shank, but I don't think they are made

I am thinking that the flex shaft might be better to get into tight places better than the Dremel itself, seems like it was $28.00,just hate buying total crap,I needed a router base on my new one and looked at the standard fair from Dremel, milk jug plastic is what I found.I made my own version today out of aluminum and stainless, after I try it out I'll post a picture or two.
