    OK guys,
The first of my two ongoing projects has reached the testing and running stage.
About two weeks ago I dragged a Hoffman dividing head out of the back shed and put a large type 42 stepper on it.
I already have a 12" vertical rotary table but I wanted a dividing head that can tilt and be used on the CNC as a fourth axis.

To make this more universal I got in touch with a guy called Tony Jeffree who does a stand alone indexer called Division master, This is a stand alone PIC controlled indexer That contains a small stepper motor driver card for running small stepper's up to 2 amp.

More important to me is the facility to export step and direction signals to bigger drives. With this in mind I obtained a Gecko 210 stepper drive. With a 74 volt power supply and this Division Master we had this setup running fine today with no problems.
I have posted a picure at:-

This means I can now fit my rotary table or dividing head to my manual machines and be automatic. One of the first jobs I have for it is to cut a couple of 127 tooth 14 DP gears on the manual horizontal miller.

Tonys web site for this Division Master is http://www.divisionmaster.com
He explain what it can do far better than I can.
