  • Another nice surprise today, 1,800HP engine.

    The engineering and training department of our airline donated a Rolls Royce Dart turbo prop engine to our museum today!

    Other engines in our collection include Rolls Royce Derwent (1st generation turbojet engine), Rolls Royce Avon turbojet engine and a Bristol Hercules sleeve valve piston engine (which would have had about the same power as the Dart). Of course many of the aircraft on display have engines too including Rolls Royce Goblins in the Vampires and a Rolls-Royce Pegasus in our VTOL Harrier.

      Yes, that is an Avon, we have one of those. Ours has the IPN chemical starter that is missing from this engine.

      It is quite a lump to move around.

        This is kinda a scary thought that's never really hit me till right now,,, but did Rolls Royce engines have lucas electrics?

            I saw a jet engined powered [email protected] OSHKOSH, now the wing only goes 30mph max but the takeoff was great! I worried about melting the chute on the start of the takeoff roll.
