Adding a "Like" button to this site.

I'm wondering if a like button could be added to this site. Almost seems like this has been brought up before but it sure would be nice.

For example, instead of having a couple of hundred posts in the "Shop Made Tools" thread that read things like "nice work Barney", we could simply hit the like button.
It would eliminate a lot of editing for the moderators.

Anyone else think it would be a good idea?

I agree - having a "like" button would (I hope) cut down on superfluous "+1" posts and make scanning threads a bit more enjoyable. Reckon others are right about not having a "dislike" one, tempting as it may seem sometimes.

Plus IIRC PM is also running vBulletin and has a Like button...?

On the other side of things, I used to mod on a site that had Dislike. It got dumped fairly quickly due to abuse.

I also "like" the "like" button. A similar function is the "thread rating" which shows the average by a number of stars that can be assigned by each poster. And any really offensive posts and spam can be reported and removed, so "dislike" is unnecessary.

I'd also "like" to have the ability to show an avatar and images in the sig line. Ideally they would show what the member looks like, but that should be optional.

Wouldn't mind adding a "like" feature, but won't have dislike or thread rating. Will do some checking when I get back to the office on Monday.

Having a 'Like' button without providing an obligatory reason would be a waste of resources.
