I finally got a vertical mill - A Millrite MV

To make a long story short, I finally got my hands on an old US Machine Tool Co. MillRite MV Vertical mill. All manual feeds with a #9 B&S taper spindle, a few collets, and I get to go shopping for tooling in the previous owner's tool box. I'd post some pics, but I must be new enough here that I'm not yet permitted to do so... totally understandable.

I've never had a vertical mill, and I've got maybe 1 hour of supervised time on a friends' mill. I've had lots of experience with other power tools and machines, so that'll help with the learning curve.

I'm now working on making sure it's trammed properly. I think I have that process figured out, and I have the right tools to do it.

OK, I'll put those pictures on Photobucket. I think I was able to create a couple albums here and upload some pics, but I've never seen anything like that and I'm not sure I was actually able to do it, and how long they'll be up.

A friend of mine has a Millrite. It's a pretty decent home shop mill. I think you will like it. It will definitely upgrade what you are able to do with metal! If you have questions this forum is a good place to get answers.

Good machines. Don't be afraid of straight shank tooling. B&S 9 taper can take a 3/4" collet which is comparable to R8. Straight shank tooling (drill chucks, boring heads and even ER collet chucks) are plentiful and very versatile.
