  • MachTach Tachometer build...Done!

    I finished building and installing a MachTach tachometer to my lathe. Lots of pictures so I wrote an article about it and posted it on my web site.

        Looks like a nice unit, reasonably priced, and I like the SFM reading. It's essentially rather simple to make using a PIC or Arduino, but really, for $56, I would probably buy this rather than designing and building it from scratch, unless I really wanted yet another project, or if I wanted to add some other function.

        I may build a solid state ignition module that could be used on model ICEs, and if I add the ability to read RPM, it could be used as a tachometer as well.
