  • Login Blocked by "Malware" Notice

This morning using my wife's Chrome tablet instead of my home laptop, my login was blocked by a big red notice, something about "Village Press" being a known malware infector.

Is this a problem, have others been similarly warned? Had to negotiate around the notice to finally reach the forum. Thanks for any info; have had a computer "spoilt" in the past..... imp

This has been a PITA for a few weeks now. Don't ask why it's still a problem, I'm asking that same question and the answers have been less than satisfying.

The reg flag for this site has absolutely nothing to do with the bulletin board, but rather its links to our magazine websites. This time around, Google flagged our Machinist's Workshop site, taking this one down with it, much like happened in this thread: http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net/thr...te-to-George-B

We were in the process of moving the MW site and perhaps our monkey business looked like a hack to the big G. The IT guys are trying to get everything moved over ASAP and then will request another test of the site. The test and clearing of the notice should take place within 72 hours of our request.

I wish I could say the end of these problems are in sight, but I'm not feeling too optimistic today.

Could it have anything to do with the "bbs" prefix, instead of the usual "www" or "naked" URL? I am now using Firefox and have not seen this problem recently.

It has to do with how things are set up and linked to our magazine sites. Today's problem is actually flagging the address "ads.villagepress.com", the site where the ads reside. If you have an ad-blocker, you will be blissfully unaware.
