TTT, have you discovered the website for Crankshaft Machine Group?
US Broach Machine and Us Broach Tool appears to be a divison within
CMG. From the About page, it is stated that in 1987 Avis Industrial
bought Crankshaft Machine Company, rolled the US Broach assets
and those of some other orgs into the mix with the result operating
              under the banner of CMG.

Could they be backing plates for broaches used externally?

I wondered about this, too. However, there does not seem to be
any provision for mounting the broaches, there are just the C/S
SHCS for attachment of the bars themselves.

Perhaps they are part of the fixturing for an external surface broach
                    assembly?
