I'm starting this sticky thread so members can keep track of donations that have been made to Darl in hopes of limiting duplication. I know I'm late to get this up, but wanted to check with Darl first to make sure he was on board with it.

Lets see what we can do to get a very generous member back up and running after the fire.

Well Chit. 300 visits and no help.

How bout this. Darl say what he can take on and we can fill the list.

I have duplicates of many tools. Id like to know what he needs. I dont want to send him a rotary table for a mill when he really needs a side (angle) grinder instead. JR

That makes a lot of sense. Trying to guess a need is pretty silly. Filling a list is better.

Maybe someone who knew his shop could provide at least a basics; wouldn't put Darl on the spot so much.

A few items that have been sent:

A couple of hammers, 4" machine vise, wood saw, cordless drill/driver, ChannelLock, basic screwdriver with various tips, center punch, rules, tape measure, rolls of Teflon and electric tape, a couple of basic files, green aviation snips, a set of needle files, smaller wire cutter, a pair of pliers.

Also understand that he was sent a multimeter.

I am starting to remove the collapsed roof of the shop. Next few days I will know what I can salvage.

You mentioned an angle grinder, I will definitely miss mine. I was loaned a welder, but have no welding hood.

This is hard for me. I am not the kind of person that looks for handouts. Let alone make a list of them.

Couple of years ago I posted about a Davies cast iron level that I cleaned up and A1 Level company installed new vials for me.
If found it. A little worse for wear, the vials are gone and one of the brass housings .I am going to send it back to A1 to see if we can put it back in service one more time.
I couldn't see a warp with an eyeball. but If it is I will ask someone to grind it back to true.

If your level needs grinding and is less than 18" long, I can do that for you, as I have a nice 8" x 18" hydraulic powered surface grinder. Might want to do that before the vials are installed. If you can pay the shipping, I will donate the grinding. The level should be nicely stress relieved now.

Machinery Hand book! I lost all my library as well.
Any one have a service manual for a ford 555 backhoe or a IH td7c dozer that they are willing to make a copy of?

I don't suppose Starret has a lifetime warranty? On cooked metrology tools, some how I doubt it.

My son picked up a surface plate and it fell to pieces. He said that granite was made by high heat and was surprised it crumbled.
I explained it was made by heat and SLOW cooling. The fire didn't hurt it. The fast cooling got it.
